The Children's Ministry
God's Swamp Chidren's Church
“Creating an environment for children
K-5th grade to experience the freedom of
relationship with Jesus” through:
Worship - Freedom of worship is taught, modeled, and
encouraged. The
kids are taught to “be alone in a crowd”, expressing their love for God
without fear of what others are thinking and
without feeling the need to conform to another’s
style of worship. Each child is unique and is encouraged to be so. (1Cor. 12)
Relevant Biblical Teaching - The word of God is communicated in an age
appropriate, relevant format so that it is
easily understood and able to be applied to their
everyday lives. The children are shown how, and encouraged to continually walk in relationship with Jesus.
Fun Activities - We know hearing the word of God is where faith comes
from, but we also know that the
attention span of a child is very short, and when it
shuts down, your fighting a losing
battle. So we reinforce the lesson with different activities each
week, sometimes they are artistic (making things for Mom and Dad), sometimes
they are interactive (relays, team
activities, etc.), but no matter what they are doing,
Christ will be at the center of everything!
Swamp Store - Swamp bucks are the economic currency
of the swamp, and unlike in most economies they are holding
there value quite nicely. Swamp bucks are earned in a number of different ways;
good behavior and scripture memorization are just a couple
(we have a few students that learned and can recite all 66
books of the bible in only a couple of weeks and more than a
few that are through the Old Testament and well on their
way). Once the bucks are earned they are
allowed to shop in the swamp store. Prices range from 1 buck for a small toy all the way
to 300 bucks for a new bike! This also give us an
opportunity to teach the kids about kingdom principals of
stewardship and the satisfaction of working and saving for
what you want. (there are no lines of credit in the swamp.)
