Image Ministries
We started Image Ministries at our church
in 2008 because our passion is to see the body of Christ
(the church) regain this lost ground and become influential
in all of the arts.
We are working on reaching out to artists in
different venues and our goal is to see them have a life
changing encounter with Jesus and see them use their gift to
advance the Kingdom of God.
Image Ministries works in three different
capacities at our church.
-
I. Prophetic Art
We have
painters who are gifted in “prophetic art”
and this is how it works:
The artist though prayer seeks the Lord for a message
to paint, most of the time the artist does not understand
what the message is they are painting.
Example: In February
2009 one of our prophetic artists prayed for the Lords
direction of what to paint.
So he painted a thick long chain with an
explosion happening in the middle of one of the links and
the chain being broken by the explosion.
None of us had the interpretation for this
painting.
We understand when God speaks a message it never
returns void so we hung it in the church and waited.
About 3 weeks later, there was a wedding at
our church and a visitor was standing in the hall way
looking at that painting and crying.
He said that this painting was showing his
whole life where he had struggled and been chained up with
addictions… and he had recently accepted Jesus as his savior
and that represented the explosion in his life that broke
the chain of addiction.
(Rest of the story:
After giving him the painting, we noticed he
had severe feet problems and he allowed us to pray for him,
and the Lord healed his feet!)
-
II. Interpretive Art
We also have painters who are gifted in
“interpretive art”
and this is how it works:
The artist will take the scripture that is being
preached and will paint an interpretation of that scripture.
Sometimes our prophetic artists and interpretative
artists will paint during our Sunday morning worship
services.
-
III. Imparting the gifts
As our Image Ministries continues to
grow, we are planning in the near future to have art classes
to teach those interested in learning the basic skills how
to use their artistic gifts to minister the word of the Lord
to others through the arts.
We firmly believe that those who have
been given this gift are to impart this gift to the younger
generations and we are providing a venue for this to take
place.
