What Do "We" Believe?

As I attend church and mingled with the other believers, I was finding out that not everyone was in one accord! Some had liberal theologies and some had conservative theologies, and some had some strange mix of theologies that I just couldn't seem to get my head around. It almost sounded as though some were putting God's Word into a context that suited them. I was starting to understand what a "feel-good" message was all about and why it was becoming so popular.

In this article, "The Importance of Theology by Marty Fields, the author states, "The bottom line is that Christians are not as well grounded in the tenets of historic Christianity as they should be."

Personally, I think Timothy summed it up best when he stated,

  • 2 Timothy:4:3 - "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;"
  • 2 Timothy:4:4 - "And they shall turn away their ears from, the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

Some say that theology makes one too earthly good to be any heavenly good!

So, should we be studying Biblical theology or just keep on drinking the milk? Should we just "lay our foundations" and let it be or should we continue to build upon it?
